What is a hydrolate?
It is one of the two products obtained during steam distillation.
During this process, the volatile compounds of the plant are carried by the water vapor to the condenser. The essential oil, which is lighter than water, floats on its surface. The water underneath is called floral water or hydrolate. The hydrolate has a very low concentration of aromatic components, around 0.5%, it is therefore much less active than the essential oil, for this reason it can be used completely safely on all skin types.
Hydrolates are excellent tonics useful for refreshing the skin, removing impurities and useful decongestants.
Our hydrolates are used as an aqueous base in all solid soaps in the line.
